Somewhere there's a whole new futuristic world where life is a game and the better player you are, the better your life gets to be. This is somewhere where you follow rules and get the chance to increase in social status and may even achieve immortality. This somewhere also happens to be on the pages of Sam Landstrom's Metagame, a science fiction story that will have you turning pages well into the night.

    The Tree of Life Review

Don’t we all wish that we could control our lives? Lead our life in the direction which we want it to go, and not actually let it lead us to where it wants? Of course we make all the choices, but if destiny decides that you will be poor, then you will be poor regardless of the choices you make.

    Legend of the Seeker

If you're a lover of fantasy, sword-fighting, epic journeys, quests, magic, and a love story that spans across time, this underrated series is for you. And if you love Merlin, chances are you'll like Legend of the Seeker as well. The series is (loosely) based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books, so if you're familiar with that, you might already know what the show's all about. It's fairly different though, and I prefer to view them as different creations rather than obsess about what's following the books and what isn't. Either way, this show is currently sitting at the top of my favourite shows list.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Terrier starts the story of Rebakah Cooper, a lowly-born Tortallan commoner whose family is picked up from the streets by the Lord Provost (sort of like the head honcho of a crime-fighting organization). Beka is Gifted with Air magic, and can communicate with pigeons (messengers of the Dark God) and dust spinners that bring about snippets of conversation from those who were recently murdered.

    Howl’s Moving Castle

I don’t know why I was so surprised when I saw the original, book version of Howl’s Moving Castle in the bookstore. When I watched the Hayao Miyazaki movie with the same name, I just thought it was another masterpiece in his long line of movies dealing with pollution, a strong, female heroine, and technology versus nature. Little did I know that it was inspired by Dianne Wynne Jones, who in turn was inspired by a boy desiring for a story about a moving castle.
