Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception
Posted on September 5, 2010 | No CommentsElves exist, and they are living beneath our feet in an underground city, with technology and magic so advanced that we can only begin to imagine what would happen if they decided to retake the earth that was once theirs. We can't win. -
Sherlock – The Science of Deduction
Posted on September 4, 2010 | No CommentsIf you're one of the few people who have not watched BBC's newest mini-series retelling the story of the famous Sherlock Holmes and placing it in the modern, 21st century, then you're missing out on a lot. -
Going Postal Review
Posted on June 6, 2010 | No CommentsGoing Postal follows a con man and his meeting with angels. Well, one particular angel. Well, one particular tyrant patrician who happens to be Moist von Lipwig’s salvation-slash-angel from the hangman’s noose. And that’s if you consider being saved after hanging within an inch of your life a type of salvation. -
The Tree of Life Review
Posted on June 6, 2010 | No CommentsDon’t we all wish that we could control our lives? Lead our life in the direction which we want it to go, and not actually let it lead us to where it wants? Of course we make all the choices, but if destiny decides that you will be poor, then you will be poor regardless of the choices you make. -
Legend of the Seeker
Posted on June 6, 2010 | No CommentsIf you're a lover of fantasy, sword-fighting, epic journeys, quests, magic, and a love story that spans across time, this underrated series is for you. And if you love Merlin, chances are you'll like Legend of the Seeker as well. The series is (loosely) based on Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books, so if you're familiar with that, you might already know what the show's all about. It's fairly different though, and I prefer to view them as different creations rather than obsess about what's following the books and what isn't. Either way, this show is currently sitting at the top of my favourite shows list. -

Posted on April 10, 2010 | No CommentsYear by year we’re getting closer and closer to the 100th Academy Awards. However, we still have a couple more to reach a century as the 82nd Academy Awards passed just about two months ago. But boy do these get more and more spectacular each year. Or at least they never fail to surprise everyone! -
Beka Cooper Series: Terrier
Posted on April 10, 2010 | 2 CommentsFor those unfamiliar with the series, Terrier starts the story of Rebakah Cooper, a lowly-born Tortallan commoner whose family is picked up from the streets by the Lord Provost (sort of like the head honcho of a crime-fighting organization). Beka is Gifted with Air magic, and can communicate with pigeons (messengers of the Dark God) and dust spinners that bring about snippets of conversation from those who were recently murdered. -
Howl’s Moving Castle
Posted on February 10, 2010 | 2 CommentsI don’t know why I was so surprised when I saw the original, book version of Howl’s Moving Castle in the bookstore. When I watched the Hayao Miyazaki movie with the same name, I just thought it was another masterpiece in his long line of movies dealing with pollution, a strong, female heroine, and technology versus nature. Little did I know that it was inspired by Dianne Wynne Jones, who in turn was inspired by a boy desiring for a story about a moving castle. -
Eastwick Review
Posted on February 10, 2010 | No CommentsFor those who are familiar with the various movies or books that often go by the titleThe Witches of Eastwick, this new series that premiered on the fall of 2009 is just another adaptation of the famous story about three women in the town of Eastwick who mysteriously got magical powers at around the same time a mysterious man named Darryl Van Horne appeared among them.
