HEY!

Guess what?

I know your secret…

No, don’t look behind you, I’m talking about you. It’s definitely your secret.

Now I know that you don’t like to admit it, in fact, you tell people about it very rarely, but I still found out. You try to hide it, pretend it doesn’t exist. You think that people will laugh when they find out, but I know. I’ve known for a long time…

You like to write.

Ok, you might not ever admit this, but it’s true. Just look in that word document from two years ago stored in the furthest corner of your computer, or that plot summary you scribbled in that notepad you were hoping no one would find. You’re definitely a writer, even if you don’t think you are.

And you know what? That’s ok! We can’t all aspire to be the next JK Rowling or Stephen King. Most of us would never even consider showing people what we’ve written, let alone getting paid for it. And yet…

Sometimes… just sometimes… you want someone to read what you’ve done and say “Yeah, that’s not that bad! I like it.”

You want someone to support you, encourage you, and tell you it’s ok. That liking to write doesn’t have to be a secret. That you’re actually pretty good and don’t have to hide.

I’m one of those people, and there’s many, many more just waiting to speak to you.

People don’t want to see what Elizabeth Chadwick wrote in her spare time, they can wait for her next published book. But they DO want to see what you’ve written. They want to see the words you so lovingly crafted before deciding to lock them away, never to be seen. They want to see those ideas you’ve scribbled down in a rush, afraid that you’ll forget them if you don’t. They want to see that story you wrote when you were younger. And you want to let them.
