Dreamer, Planner, Critic

April 2016
February Fortescue (Slytherin)

Here it was, a perfectly gorgeous Spring day, and once again Celinda was getting nothing done. Her head was lost in the clouds, daydreaming. She would be moving back into her home soon and was mentally decorating her dream kitchen décor. She heard a knock at the door.

“Cherise! Come on in! Did you bring food?” Celinda asked. Cherise was her best friend, and Celinda was always happy when her friend stopped by to visit.

“No food, Celinda. What have you been up to?” she asked.

“I've been dreaming about my future kitchen décor, “ Celinda smiled. “You know how I love the 1940's and 1950's? Just look at these websites. Check this out. I can pick up these 1950's retro dining chairs in so many different colors: red, blue, green, black. Plus, lots of different styles: waterfall, button, cracked ice. Add to that, a dining table, oval, with chrome. Perfect, isn't it? Oh, and all of these adorable additions!! Look at this clock! It would be perfect. OH – and look at this chrome wall pay phone! And this neon sign! Oh, Cherise, my kitchen is going to be gorgeous!”

Cherise stared at Celinda. She loved her friend, but also knew she had quite the imagination. “Celinda,” she asked, “have you figured up how much all of this will cost?”

Celinda smiled at her friend. “Of course I have! I have it all planned out! Remember that additional check Cyrena owes me? That's right! It will over every bit of this. I've added it all up.” Celinda sat back with a smug look on her face.

Cherise sighed. “I hate to be the critic here, but do you have any plans to actually cook in this kitchen? Would you like a decent refrigerator? Those are important as well, you know. Have you added them into your budget?”

Celinda glared at her. “No!” She didn't mean to be angry at her best friend, but she didn't want to deviate from her plans. Just like Cherise, always a critic.

“Celinda, you don't have to bite my head off! You know, Runespoors may be mythical creatures, and we may be real creatures, but we have a lot in common. Like the Runespoor, you dream and you plan, but here comes the critic, you don't like what it has to say, and you bite its head off. But if you do that, you die from making poor choices. Don't you see? You have got to listen to the critic! Spend the money Cyrena gives you on the stove and refrigerator because they are expensive, and then each month purchase one cool retro item at a time, and by the end of the year, you will have exactly what you want. It's magic!”

Celinda took a couple of deep breaths, and realized Cherise was right. “No wonder you're my best friend!” she said, hugging her.
