Wreck-It Ralph

It's tough being the bad guy. It is worse when all of the other characters in the game believe you should stay in the mud. It is even worse when you are not invited to the 30th anniversary party of your game. There wouldn't even be a game without you!

Welcome to the world of Wreck-It Ralph, the "villain" in the game Fix-It Felix, Jr. At a Bad-Anon meeting of all bad guys in arcade games, Ralph reveals that he is tired of being the bad guy. When he returned to his game, Ralph witnessed a huge celebration. Even Pac-Man was invited! This was the last straw. Ralph confronted the other characters in the penthouse. They told him he would always be a bad guy until he earned a medal like Felix. So, Ralph set out to find a medal.

At Tapper, a bar tending game, Ralph meets a solider from Hero's Duty, a first person shooter arcade game, who tells him that the winner of the game gets a medal. Of course, complications occur as Ralph is shot, along with a newly hatched Cy-bug, into Sugar Rush, a racing game. In this candyland, Ralph meets young Vanellope von Schweetz, who has something to prove for herself.

Meanwhile, Felix must track down Ralph before their game is deemed broken, unplugged, and removed from the arcade forever!

To be honest, I didn't think I would like this movie as much as I did. I pretty much fail at most arcade games and video games, especially first person games. I don't know why, but I just cannot get through doors or portals. Still, I was able to recognize many arcade characters, including Q*bert, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bowser from the Mario series. Clyde, the orange ghost from Pac-Man was the head of the Bad-Anon meeting. My brothers had an argument about this because we have Ms. Pac-Man where the orange ghost is named Sue. The variety of games paralleled that of a great arcade. The tech-y side was also shown through coding and the electrical wires that connect the games.

What truly got me were the sweets, of course! Once Ralph was in Sugar Rush, I could not stop squealing. The mesh of deliciousness and cleverness was amazing! Nesquik, doughnuts, Laffy Taffy, Oreo, Devil Dogs... all extremely clever! I clearly know no other way to describe this eye candy phenomenon, so you must go see for yourself.

Whether you like animated films or arcade games or sugary goodness or a hero quest story line, Wreck-It Ralph is sure to please.
