Strike A Pose!
I don’t know about you, but it felt like winter would never end. However, it’s now finally spring, and just like flower buds popping up out of the ground, this season’s make up is more colorful than ever! Although if brights aren’t your thing, don’t worry, there are some nice fresh-face takes, too, that still remind us of a dewy spring morning.
First off on our list of spring make up trends, the orange lip. Yes, I said orange. This will require a bit of playing around to find a good shade for yourself, but it’s sure to help you stand out. Plus, during those dreary days, it’s sure to brighten up not only your day but the day for those around you. Just try to keep it matte; shiny might attract more attention than you want.
Next up on the colorful parade is blue eyeliner and eyeshadow. And we mean blue. Thankfully, you can either go full eyelid drama or just simple blue lines to bring out your eyes. Besides, while we’re stuck in the last days of classrooms or punching a clock at work, we could all use a little beach fantasy, and this brings us all a touch closer to those sandy shores.
Breaking away from color, but no less dramatic, is the cat eye or graphic eye. This is the '60s greatest gift to us, reinvented in an almost comic book heroine drama to the eyes. Whether you go for the traditional and fabulous cat-eyed look or harness your inner rebel by drawing angles and straight lines, you’re sure to wow.
Now for a little break from the drama, we have the biggest trend of spring 2014: the bare face or glowing face. This is the embrace of the early days of spring, where everything is still grey, but the sunlight is creating that new life-glow on the buds. Just don’t go actually putting grey on your face. A good tinted moisturizer will finish the look perfectly. Plus, it’s nice on those mornings when you oversleep your alarm.
If you’re not for either the bold and dramatic or the simple and clean, then why not go for something a little...ethereal? White eyeliner and eyeshadow were seen on runways everywhere, helping models look like fresh-eyed fairies. If you must do a little drama, then lay it on thick to make an almost sci-fi statement.
And finally, for the girliest of girls, why not take inspiration from pastels and berries and layer them on as a celebration of spring? Whether it’s pink or purple, on your eyelids or on your lips, you’ll be the sweetest picture around. And hey, these shades are flexible enough that you can make them more spice while keeping them nice!
