Halloween Makeup: Cheetah/Leopard

October 2013 Rhiannon Brennan

Looking for a fun idea for Halloween this year? Why not go as one of the big cats, such as a leopard or a cheetah? Not sure how to do the face painting? Never fear! I'm here to give you a more or less step by step guide to turning yourself into a big cat!

First, some basics you will need before we get started:

  • Mehron Character Make-up Kit (Cat)
  • Some extra make-up sponges (theater quality is best, but foundation type will work too)
  • A make-up mirror so you can see what you're doing

Preparation:
Start with a clean face. Yes, that means you have to use soap and water and scrub your face of any make-up residue, sweat, or daily grime.

Step One:
Mark the white areas around your eyes, under and beside your nose for the cat lips, and your chin to create the basic cat face look.

Step Two:
Apply character base color all over your face and use black eyeliner to outline your eyes, extending the outside line beyond your eyelids to make your eyes appear more cat-like in shape.

Step Three:
Use the black color make-up and use the brush included in the kit to outline the cat upper lips and extend the line up to the inside corner of each eye. (For those doing the Leopard, you can skip this part.) Next, use the black on your nose as shown in the picture below and make the lip split to complete the cat muzzle.

Step Four:
Use the yellow color all over your face wherever the character base was applied earlier being careful of the black outlines.

Step Five:
Using the brush provided in the kit, make small open ended circles all over your cheeks and forehead to create your spots. Once you have finished your spots, enjoy the look of a fierce big cat!
