The Major Players

October 2013 Prof. Cassandra Lobiesk

Installing the Sims 3 game on the computer might have been the single best move--and the worst mistake--that I have ever made this year. Not only has it singlehandedly taken over a major portion of my gaming day, but it also managed to oust the Cranky Corner out of commission for this Alte season. Instead, you have my column about the Sims I've created in Sunset Valley.

But these are no ordinary Sims, of course. Far be it for the Sims to be just a regular game, especially when I also installed numerous expansion packs to further the Sim ambition (and supernatural-ness...). And, to top it off, I can populate my neighborhood with as many people as I want.

So I ended up creating the HOL neighborhood. Well, mostly Ravenclaws for the moment. At first I'd planned on starting small, creating and nurturing one Ravenclaw at a time, but it turns out this wasn't the case. Once I started making the Sim HOLers and unleashing them into my HOL neighborhood, I couldn't stop. And eventually I ended up with 23 Ravenclaw HOLers roaming my world and doing nefarious (or good) things while I have my back turned.

Who are the major players exactly? You'll find out below. (I've broken them into different households, since these were practically the default I set them at.)

The People

*Note: Due to the amount of graphics already on the page, the other sims are linked on their respective names. Have fun looking at all of them!

Lobiesk Household - At first, Cassandra Lobiesk had been quite content living a bachelorette life in her quaint little house. However, after her success as an editor-in-chief and a promising author, it had occurred to Cassie that it was time to set her sights on larger accommodations. That was when she bought a new home, a bigger one, and quit her job to become a full-time writer. Only, she couldn't exactly pay for all that room. So she invited Ryan Lobiesk in with her. As a businessman, Ryan would be providing the funds within the household. Not to mention the raging parties.

Llewellyn Household - Ah, what to say about the Llewellyns. Rhiannon is the superstar single mother raising six rambunctious children: young adults Amy Lupin and Edmund Smethwyck, teenagers Arielle Lemoyne and Ryan Granger, and ickles Scarlet Irisa and Matilde Rayne. At some point, she's planning to set her children up as a musical group called The Llewellyns. But for now, Rhi's content in keeping them under her wing while she rules the world. Take note, Edmund and Three have since moved out of the Llewellyn fold (something about the need for creative space), though they're merely a cab ride away.

Leslie-Lagrange Household - I'm not sure what brought Scarlet into agreeing to live with her brother Pavel Lagrange, but I suppose it's easier to keep track of the two children each between them. Thankfully, teenage Ariella McManus is helping keep track of the energetic Amy Charz, Chantel Poole, and Iris Ixchel. Not that that's a step up; can one really stop the evil brewing in the Leslie-Lagrange household when Pavel himself is bound to a life of piracy?

Adderholt-Szilagyi Household - Originally, I had planned on lumping these two lovely Head Prefects in with all the other prefects (that'd make eight of them total). But considering the hazards of living with Kyrie Adderholt and Silmarien Szilagyi every day, it might not have worked out very well. Already, Ms. Adderholt has found different ways to catch fire and to burn houses, while who knows what Ms. Szilagyi is up to whenever she traipses into the TARDIS she invented in her backyard. Be that as it may, these two know how to party, and are always invited to the Lobiesk house.

Kimil Household - The Kimil brothers: Ulol, Mark Mandrake, and Gustavo Flores, are renowned bachelors of the Sim world. Nevermind that Ulol's hobby is to flirt with the females (I'm not sure if this is worse or better than his random dancing in the middle of the park). The other two aren't any better, either; Mark's apparently a babe magnet and Gus is charismatic enough for everyone to like him. Only time will tell what these gentlemen will do. Still, they do host some of the best parties ever.

Riaper Household - You would think Head Girl Alexia would have a proper home to herself, with several cats and an awesome office for her inner Pinkerton. Unfortunately, this is not the case. She rooms with Hufflepuffs Tarma Black and Zoki Phantom. Not that this is a bad thing. At least she doesn't have to do all the cooking herself, and she certainly can leave the house without the worry that it will get burgled. If anything, Alexia would be the one doing the breaking and entering.

Winters-Manasa Household - Like Cassie, Maya had been a solo flyer for a good portion of the Sim life. Up until she turned into a vampire, that is. Once it was evident that Ms. Winters could not be tamed, Sophia Manasa decided she would need to move in with the vampire in order to keep her at bay (and to throw out visiting boys if need be). The two are both vegetarians, which work just fine, though I'm mostly unsure how Sophia feels about the lack of fire in the house, especially when Maya is deathly afraid of it.

There you have it. Stay tuned next issue for when we take the Sim Life to their houses!
